Story

Written in 1987. The original mix of this song that was released on cassette in 1988 was damaged so the CD and MP3 copies of this song are a new take,  recorded in 2007. Charity is the King James word used to translate the Greek work agape (love).

Story

I wrote the first two verses of this song in 1974 and performed them with my band OPEN FIST. Twelve years later, my brother Rick and Jim Cummings (the friends in Carl Dudley and Friends) were playing it at practice one night and the third verse just kind of appeared.

Jess Montgomery played the electric lead on the recording and David Gilmore played the piano.

Story

Take the Time Sometime in 1975 at a bus stop on the corner of 15th and Market in Ballard WA, I wrote this song. I later found out the this spot at one time was the location of a church where my great grandfather was the minister. My wife Lori did some percussion on this song.

Still I Know
Written in 1986. This is the only studio recording to date of OPEN FIST. Kent was visiting from Alaska and did some of the acoustic guitar and his harmony vocals. A few weeks later Jim Swanson came by to add his harmony. Okay, we weren't all in the room to record at the same time, but is was still awesome fun to finally record the group.

Take the Time and Still I Know have no gap between songs; both songs download with this link.

Story

We tried to record this song from 1987 with a pop classical sound, if there is such a thing. David Gilmore is on the harpsichord. Mauri Macy played a synth cello and viola. Joyce Waters did a couple of violin tracks. And Phil and Gayle Neumann played recorders. Backing vocals: Jim Cook, Steve Rockwell, Mark Peery, Bill Sturm, Hannah French, Christy Winters, Jennifer Dudley, Mandy Firestone, Audra Gill, Cathy Gill, Wilma French, Eileen Gill, Lori Dudley and Pattie Holder.

Story

Written in 1987. Check out the cover art from the album. Peter sank in stormy water. I went down in calm and peaceful waters. He tested his faith by getting out of the boat. I just flat out failed the test. No matter how far down you go, remember the hand of Jesus is reaching out to save you. Mauri Macy played the piano and synths on this recording.

Story

This song from 1987 had the rhythm tracks recorded at CMJ in Dalles OR. Brian Willis mixed these tracks at Northstar in Portland. We then added David Gilmore's piano and the vocals at Early Bird in Newberg. This could all easily be done in our digital world, but is was quite the process back in 1988.

Story

This is the song version from 1988 of a little conversation between Jesus and me.  Long story short, don't sin.  It's not worth it.  If you sin anyway, repent.  Jesus doesn't leave us, we stray from Him.

David Gilmore played piano, Mauri Macy did the orchestration on the Mirage and Roland keyboards and my dad Denny Dudley played the trumpet.

Story

Basically lifted from Psalm 18 in 1986. When I first played this song at church, my grandmother told me that my great grandfather had written a devotional based on the same Psalm. Linda Baker played the flute on the recording.
